Memorial Day Services cancelled in Akron

With a heavy heart, the officers of the LL Tillman Post #900 announced cancellation of the 2020 annual Memorial Day Services in a statement late last week.

American Legion Post #900 Adjutant Fred Pask released the news, noting that The American Legion National Committee and the American Legion Department of New York recommended the cancelling of all American Legion activities, due to the coronavirus-Covid19 pandemic

“After much discussion and based on the current social distancing guidelines that are in place, it is with a heavy heart, we have made the following decision,” Pask wrote.  “We, the officers of the LL Tillman Post #900, American Legion feel that to maintain the health of the public and our members, it is the best interest of the community to cancel this year’s Memorial Day Services.”

The American Legion LL Tillman Post #900 and Newstead Memorial VFW Post take turns organizing the annual Memorial Day Observance, and 2020 was the year for the LL Tillman Post to organize the event.
