Newstead Public Library hosts Olympic Games
Newstead Public Library, Main Street, Akron, NY will host Fun Olympic themed games for ages 6 to 12 on Monday, August 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Farm Market Truck
The FeedMore Farm Market Truck will be in front of the library the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The Farm Turck has fresh and local produce for sale and accepts cash, credit/debit cards and SNAP as payment.
Y on the Fly!
The mobile YMCA, Y on the FLY van will bring youth activities to the library on Wednesdays from 1 to 2:15 p.m. July 31 through August 14..

Feelings Rock
Feelings Rock – Helping Kids Move, learn and Grow will feature Music and Movement for ages 0-5 with Katie is held on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m., August 13 and 27. Please call to register.

Library of Things
Newstead Public Library, Main Street, Akron, New York lends out of a Library of Things! All items are free to borrow for seven days.
Library of Things includes Night Sky Backpack – 2 night vision binoculars and constellation book, Metal Detector, Outdoor Projector, and Screen, Lawn Games, STEM kits for children and the Empire Pass which allows free entry to all NY State Parks.
Virtual Programs
Visit Newstead Public Library Facebook Page and Youtube channel for virtual programs and fun. Weekly episodes of In the Kitchen with Val are uploaded.
Hours and Services
On non-holiday days, Newstead Public Library, Main Street, Akron, is open Monday from 12 noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 12 noon to 8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. These hours are now year-round hours. Library Closed Juneteenth, June 19.
All Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries are now Fine Free! Overdue fees are no longer charged. Fees are collected for damaged and lost items.

Library Board Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m.
The Library is closed on Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day.
Chromebook and Hotspot available to borrow
Newstead Public Library, is now lending a Chromebook along with a hotspot for one week. Those under 17 do need a parent present for the first checkout to sign a waiver.
Library by Mail Program
As part of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System, Newstead Public Library is offering “Library by Mail” a Free service that brings library materials to the homebound through the mail. It is available to any Erie County resident who is either temporarily or permanently unable to go to a physical library. There is a limit of three items to borrow and materials are checked out for 6 weeks and are renewable for another 6 weeks.
