No one speaks at Village of Akron budget hearing
There were no public questions or comments relative to the proposed Village of Akron 2022-2023 spending plan during a public hearing on that budget Monday night.
The balanced budget reflects expenditures of $6,550,475.02 with revenue of $6,550,475.02. Salary for the Mayor is $9.,811 and for each of the Trustees, $6,700.
The property tax levy is $1,092,539.00 and total assessed valuation is $182,506,718.00, with a tax rate per thousand of $5.9863.
No action was taken on the budget following the public hearing and the Board is expected to hold a special meeting at the end of April to take action on the plan.
Splash Pad
Village Board members received an inquiry from the company installing the new splash pad in Russell Park, relative to the readiness of the site. A representative will come out to determine what needs to be done prior to installation.
The Board plans to work with local civic organizations for the funding of the splash pad.
The decision to locate the new feature in Russell Park was made last year following months of discussion and public meetings.
East Avenue
Village Board members met with a representative of Clark Patterson Lee relative to design work for water and sewer lines on East Avenue during their work session. Work is underway to pull together funding to rebuild East Avenue and design for village infrastructure replacement is needed prior to any reconstruction.
Also joining the Board for their work session and East Avenue discussion was Erie County Legislator Chris Greene who is working with the Village Board, as sell as New York State Assemblyman Mike Norris and Senator Edward Rath.
Appointment
Completing the previous meeting’s organizational meeting, Board members appointed Lynne Folger as Deputy Clerk Treasurer for the ensuing year. There was not a quorum to make the appointment at the previous meeting with Trustee Folger needed to abstain.
Building permits
Building permits were approved for a driveway replacement and shed at 64 Cedar St., Cell Tower upgrades at 3 Flint Ave., deck repair at 7 Hart St., and pad at 34 Clinton St.
