Opportunities to participate in Bi-Centennial continue to emerge

The Town of Newstead Bi-Centennial Committee continues to work on plans for the 2023 observance.  Although 2023 seems a long way off, it takes many months to plan a huge celebration.  The bicentennial committee has tentative plans for a scavenger hunt, children’s activities, garden walk, cruise night/taste of Akron, Native American day, and many varied activities.  They welcome your participation in this planning.

The book committee is gathering information from businesses, and local organizations for a commemorative book for the bicentennial.  Many businesses and organizations, who received requests months ago, have not responded to letters. It is not too late.  Please contact Pat Pearce (716-542-4191) if you are interested in submitting information regarding your business or organization.  Advertising will also be accepted during September.  If an individual or family would like to submit a name for the patron’s page, the cost will be $25 per name or family name.  Call Pat Pearce if you are interested.

The next bicentennial meeting is set for September 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Newstead Town Hall, 5 Clarence Center Road, Akron.  The Committee hopes you will consider joining.
