Philip R. Wittman

Philip R. Wittman, 79 of Akron, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at his residence.

He was born May 26, 1941 in Cheektowaga, NY, a son of the late Jerome and Evelyn Hamilton Wittman.

Mr. Wittman served his country with the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965 and was stationed at the U.S. Pentagon. He was employed by Praxair as a Senior Technologist prior to his retirement. Phil was an avid artist and volunteered his time with Hearts and Hands and local food pantry. He was a member of St. Teresa’s Church in Akron, where he was a Eucharistic Minister for several years.

Phil enjoyed rollerblading and would often travel several miles from Akron and when vacationing, would always travel with his rollerblades. He also participated in the “Ride for Roswell”, remembering those afflicted with cancer.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Nancy Bishop Wittman of Akron. Daughters, Yvette (Randy) Beard of North Carolina, Tammy Krear of North Carolina and Melissa (Scott) Polzin-Eastman of Corfu, NY. Grandchildren, Alexander and Connor Frasier, Keelea and Abigail Krear and Kirstyn and Kathryn Eastman. Sister, Kathie Beaulieu of Cheektowaga. Brother in-law, Rick Bauth of North Collins, NY. Also survived by nieces, nephews and feline friend Petunia.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Alan and Dennis Wittman.

Visitation and funeral services will be planned in the future with burial in the WNY National Cemetery.
