Robert P. Kiehl, Jr.
Robert P. Kiehl, Jr. passed away on September 20, 2024 at Hospice Buffalo after a four year courageous battle against cancer. He was born July 1, 1952 at St. John’s hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Sandra Kiehl and the late Robert P. Kiehl Sr..
He moved to the Western New York area in 1982 to work at Darien Lake Amusement Park. Robert graduated from Canisius College with a degree in counseling and earned a Masters at the University of Buffalo.
Bob was a giant, not only in height but the way he loved his wife and family and all who knew him in his gentle, kind, funny, strong way. He was an original song writer, guitar player, who enjoyed sharing his talent. He was a wanderer, photographer, poet and a musician who sought not only the meaning of life, but the essence of life. Bob and his wife of 40 years enjoyed traveling; visited France, England, Venezuela, and the East coast of the United States.
He had a successful career in the Amusement business and then in the home improvement departments of Comfort Windows and Wonder Windows. His hobbies included hiking, playing Texas Hold ‘Em and Fan Duel. He created a book of poetry and photography named A Whisper of a Song.
He is predeceased by his father Robert Pearson Kiehl Sr., and a sister Rebecca Kiehl. Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife Lyn (Sanborn), his mother Sandra Melcher Kiehl (Dayton, Ohio) Nancy Kiehl (Dayton, Ohio) two brothers Thomas(late Jeanette) of Michigan and Michael (Charlene) of Strongsville, Ohio. He is also survived by two uncles Paul (Marsha) Melcher of TN, Royal (Phyllis) Kiehl of Alaska and several nieces and nephews.
