Rodney J. “Hot Rod” Whiting

Rodney J. “Hot Rod” Whiting, 72, of Lyndonville, NY, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

He was born on July 31, 1952, in Batavia, New York, the son of the late Lauren and Shirley (Blackstone) Whiting.

On May 29, 1976, Hot Rod married the former LuAnne Bow, and together, they raised two children. He was employed as a maintenance Foreman at Whiting Door Manufacturing in Akron, NY until his retirement.

Hot Rod enjoyed being outdoors, especially while hunting, riding his Harley, and driving his 1952 Chevy 3100 Pickup. Most of all, Hot Rod enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Hot Rod is survived by his wife of 48 years, LuAnne; daughter Kelly Rinker of Lyndonville; son Mathew (Katie) Whiting of Holley, NY; and six grandchildren, Kara, Kelton, Brayden, Laim, Nathan, and Elyse.

Besides his parents, Hot Rod is predeceased by two brothers, Bob and Jim.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held, at the White Birch Golf Course, 1515 N. Lyndonville Rd., Lyndonville, NY 14098.

Memorials may be made in his name the Ronald McDonald House Charites of Rochester, 333 Westmoreland Drive, Rochester, NY 14620.
