Rotary Club congratulates scholarship winners
Each year the Rotary Club of Akron-Newstead welcomes the recipients of the scholarships presented by the Club to Akron Central School graduating seniors. The Club welcomed those scholarship recipients last week. President Jeannine Morlacci (left) and Scholarship Chair Ron Konieczny, as well as Rotary members congratulated the students.
The Rotary scholarship for Doyle Security was awarded to Olivia McClaine. The $1,000 award is presented to a student who has a high level of character and is interested in going into law enforcement, a similar career, or business.
The Rotary scholarship for First Stop Realty was presented to Liam Haak, a $600 award for a student pursuing a college education.
The Rotary scholarship for Herm Clouse Insurance was given to Payton Palizay and Garielle Wicks. The $500 scholarship is for a student planning a career in special education or technology.
The Rotary Interact Scholarship of $500 was presented to Emily Fox. Awarded to a senior who worked for the betterment of the school and community without great recognition/ leadership skills/ respect for others/ worked in group activities for community to promote goodwill.
Alanna Daniel and Morgan Maggiore each received the Rotary – Ms. Jean’s Early Childcare and Education Studies $500 award. This award is presented to a senior who plans to attend college and who attended Harkness for Child Care and exhibits involvement in Leadership and Community Service.
Jonathan Steen was presented with the Rotary – Ray C. Middaugh Memorial Scholarship. The award, worth $500, is given to a student pursuing a career in the legal or business fields.
Kaylee Marble received the Rotary – Rotary Graphics Arts Scholarship of $1000 for a student attending college for graphics arts design and/or business.
The Rotary Unsung Hero Award was presented to Katherine Leeds. This $4,000 award ($1000 each of 4 years) is given to a senior who worked for the betterment of the school and community without great recognition and who possessed leadership skills and a respect for others as well as worked in group activities for the community to promote goodwill.
