Rust Belt is a Western New York based, full scale boutique design and build firm. Through their sister company, Fiddle & Fig they provide high end, full service interior design and remodeling for your home and business.  “With an east coast style, and a team of highly skilled designers, and craftsmen, we work to transform your home into a space you LOVE,” owner and lead designer Dusty Blasko notes.

In business for five years, owners Josh and Dusty Blasko first opened with an office in Clarence, New York, with an eye to moving to Akron.  When the opportunity to move to 77 Main Street came, they were happy to make the move.  “We are ecstatic to have a store on Main Street,” Dusty said.

Dusty moved to the Western New York area in 2009, meeting and marrying Akron native Josh Blasko.  Dusty has focused her professional career on understanding how people live in and use their space. This translates to a passion for functional design and a desire to see people thrive where they live and work. She believes design has a profound impact on overall wellbeing. She is described as a basket loving pillow junky with a house full of home décor and a head bursting with ideas. She is also mother to five kids, an interior designer, rehab lover, and a caffeine addict.

Josh runs the field crews and “whatever Dusty tells him to.”   He moves the design to realty with the help of an experienced crew, working to keep each project running well, without chaos and with ample communication.  He has over 20 years of experience and can even jump in when there is custom millwork to be conquered.  Once a design is presented and approved, a detailed construction bid to complete the project provided and accepted, he oversees every part of your project —from demo day, ordering and receiving, to installation and final reveal of your beautiful, finished space.

Emeli Dennin – design assistant is involved in many areas of the design/retail part of the business.  Her passion for design and a collector of everything artistic, colorful, and vintage started at a young age. She manages all digital content for Rust Belt’s Interiors and is the go-to stylist and photographer on most projects. Emeli enjoys bringing plants into her home design, and they are everywhere!

With retail experience she is enjoying working with Dusty with the home décor retail aspect of their new home on Main Street.  All of the interior design items, pillows, throws, candles, decorations and more come from female owned businesses locally and globally.  There are many items from which to choose for your current home décor or with a future look in mind.

Dusty is a firm believer in a client-centered approach, and is intricately involved in the development of each and every project and encourages her clients to fully engage in the Design Process. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the New York School of Interior Design in Arts.

They offer a full range of design services including space planning, build design, color consultation, furnishings and installation helping you prepare to do it yourself, or working with you on a room, part of your home, or an entire house.

“You can consider pairing our design services with our construction services for a smooth transfer or take your finished design wherever you please,” Dusty notes.
