Stephen James O’Connor

Stephen James O’Connor of Freedom New York passed away on August 22, 2021.  He was born in Buffalo, New York on August 5, 1949 to Thomas O’Connor and Alice (Rothfus) O’Connor.

Stephen was in the United States Army, and honorably served our country in Vietnam. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.  He made his career working in Construction Management, retiring from CRA Corporation in 2010.

He especially enjoyed all the conversations with friends, his time with the Pony Club, working with the 4H, hunting and spending time on his land.  He spent many years remodeling his 1850s home.

Above all, his most precious time was spent with his grandson Nathan, his pride and joy.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife and friend Dawn Sutton O’Connor, beloved daughters Shannon (Clifford) Stephen and Cassidy (Michael) Nicholas, grandson Nathan Nicholas.  He is also survived by a brother Thomas (Carol Gens) O’Connor, a sister Tara (Brett) Lons.  He is also survived by several very special nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Michael O’Connor.
