The Modified Swim team maintains its domination

The modified swim team had its toughest battle last Wednesday as it took on the teams from Albion, Barker, Medina, Newfane , and Roy-Hart in a six school meet held at ACS.

The Tigersharks were able to capture a majority of the first places despite the stiff competition.  The team set the tone from the very start, slamming the touchpad first by a large lead in the opening 200 yard medley relay swum by Anastasia Los, Hannah Liss, Alaina Roland, and Quinn O’Malley.  Individual event winners were Evan Iversen in the 200 freestyle, Alaina Roland in the 100 individual medley, and Adeliade Mandell in the 50 yard backstroke.  The final 200 freestyle relay swum by Roland, Iversen, Lilly Sears, and Mandell was also victorious.  “Seizing a win competing against all those other schools is something these athletes should be very proud of!  They’ve demonstrated hard work really does pay off!” commented Coach Borden.

Saturday the team competed against Medina and Roy-Hart.  The Tigersharks ruled the waters once again capturing first place in every event and a second place in all but one event.  Shannon Esmond, Lilly Sears, Anastasia Los, and Nathaniel Gehl won the opening medley relay and Adelaide Mandell, Evan Iversen, Quinn O’Malley, and Shannon Esmond were the victors in the final freestyle relay.  Los won the 50-yard butterfly and the 50-yard backstroke: Iversen won both the 200- and 100-yard freestyle events.  O’Malley touched first in the 50-freestyle, Mandell won the 100-yard individual medley, and Lilly Sears captured first place in the 50-yard breaststroke.  Many swimmers reported their personal best times.  The team closes its season the week after break.  “Stellar job modified swim team!”
