Tina Ground
Tina Ground, born on May 26, 1960 in Batavia, New York, passed away on January 27, 2025. Tina, a resident of Basom, NY, was a beloved member of the Snipe Clan of the Tonawanda Seneca Indian Reservation. Her heart was deeply tied to her native lands, her clan, and her family. With a spirit that was as resilient as it was kind, Tina’s love for her family was the cornerstone of her life.
Tina had a love for all creatures, but she held a special place in her heart for her dogs, whom she cared for with profound affection and dedication. Her love for her pets was a reflection of her nurturing nature, which extended to every aspect of her life.
She is remembered as a beloved mother to Ruby Hallett and a cherished grandmother to River, Nathan, and Jordyn. Tina is also survived by her loving siblings Janette (Darwin) Hill, Charlene (Alden) Sundown, Annette Tahamont, Mardell Sundown, Rhonda (Thomas) Harjo, and Randy Ground.
Tina was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred Sr. and Rubena Ground, and by her siblings Maxine Parker, Dorothea “Snookie” Sundown, Janice Hallett, Brenda Sundown, Ricky Ground, Vicki Standsblack, Freddie “Juggie” Ground, and Wilfred Ground, Jr. Her memory will continue to live in the hearts of those she left behind.
Friends and family were invited to gather and share memories on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 349 Council House Road, Basom, NY where a Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, followed by a Long House Service at 2:00 p.m. Tina will be laid to rest at the Long House Cemetery.
