Warren Clark

Warren Clark, of Corfu, New York entered into rest on July 17, 2023.  He was born April 22, 1938, in Corinth, NY to Hazel and Kenneth Clark.

He graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a degree in Chemistry, then served two years in the Army. Upon completing his service, he met Joan on a blind date through a mutual friend. They were married the following Summer in Akron, NY. Warren and Joan fostered children for eight years and were then blessed with daughter Leanna’s arrival.

Many know Warren for being a go-to person in the gum and candy business. Starting work at Life Savers, he honed his chemistry skills. His next job at Ford Gum & Machine Co. led to several international trips to oversee formulation and manufacturing at various plants. He greatly enjoyed collaborating with management and coworkers. Not one for early retirement, his love of the job kept him working into his 80’s. Retiring in 2021 marked the end of an over 50-year career, where he has been highly sought-after for his expertise problem solving issues.

In addition to work, Warren had many hobbies. He was a history buff and avid reader of business news and current events and Tom Clancy novels. He could be found watching military movies and tv shows and volunteered for the Geneseo Air Show.

He studied cabinet making in community education and continued woodworking. While the Corfu house was being built, he supervised the construction process closely. Warren had a green thumb and grew many fruits and vegetables, planted trees and flowers, and even kept bees. He loved to travel and made fishing trips with friends, and frequently cruised with Joan to exciting destinations. Through a wine club, he often went wine tasting to vineyards, and even dabbled in wine making at home. 

More than his professional accomplishments and hobbies, he enjoyed giving back to the community. He served on the Pembroke Town Board and was a long-time member of multiple Methodist Churches, volunteering as a greeter, usher, bookkeeper, and wherever needed.

Although he battled a rare cancer for 5 years, he was optimistic throughout the ordeal. Luckily, he felt decent and kept working through most of his treatment. He became a well-known presence in Roswell to all the staff, where he would joke with the nurses and Doctors helping with his care. His positivity helped him beat the odds of life expectancy by many years. 

Friends and family called from 4 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2022 and from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC. with a Funeral Service immediately following.  He will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery in Pembroke, New York.
