West Shore Market prepares to open June 4

The West Shore Market is getting ready to kick off for its third season on June 4th.  The West Shore Market is a local farmer’s and craft market, hosted by the Akron Chamber of Commerce.  The market meets on Sundays in Russell Park from 9:00 to 1:00 from June 4th until September 24th.

There will be vendors set up each week with a variety of goods as well as other fun events planned for the community throughout the season.  On Opening Day there will be lawn games set up and hotdogs and lemonade provided by Church in the Park.  There is no charge for the cookout, but donations will be accepted.  Other June events include a day of Bubble Gum related contests sponsored by Ford Gum on June 11th and a visit from the Erie County Book Mobile on June 25th.  There will not be a market on Father’s Day.

Marketgoers will have the opportunity to shop local vendors, some new vendors to the market and some returning for another year.  Vendors lined up for the month of June will be offering flowers, plants, seasonal produce, baked goods, maple products, home decor, clothing and a variety of hand-crafted items.  The market is able to accept EBT payment in exchange for tokens which can be used to purchase eligible items from vendors. Each week children are invited to search for the market mascot, Westin, a crocheted chicken who finds a different hiding spot at a vendor’s table each week.

The West Shore Market will be meeting at a special location at Veterans Park on July 2nd joining the Tractor/Farm Show for Bicentennial Celebrations.
