Winter Parking ban lifted in Village of Akron

The Village of Akron winter parking ban has been lifted for the remainder of the 2025 season.

Due to movie filming in Russell Park this week, parking restrictions will be put in place at different times throughout the next few days by the Akron Police Department.

2025 Hallmark Movie – Newport Christmas
March 17th –
Small Crew working during day
March 18th –
Small Art Crew working Russell Park
Clinton Street parking on park side closed at 7 pm for Equipment Trucks
March 19th –
Film office / lunch – C Dee Wright Center
Crew Size between 50-70 need parking
Whole crew working from noon – 1 am, filming from 2pm – 1:00 am
Filming in Russell Park and on Main Street
Clinton Street parking on park side closed for Equipment Trucks
Church Street Closed – no parking for the whole day
John Street – part of John St will have no parking
Use of horse and buggy
March 20th –
Whole crew working from noon – 3 am, filming from 2 pm – 3 am.
Filming only in Russell Park
