Women’s Suffrage in WNY topic of tonight’s NHS program
Tonight, June 10, the Newstead Historical Society will welcome local historian Susan Eck as she presents her program “Emblem of Equality: Women’s Suffrage in WNY”. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, granting American women the right to vote. Susan will examine the contributions of many area women to this major movement, its long struggle and its eventual success.
The program will take place in the Newstead Cultural Center, 33 Main St., bottom floor of the library at 7:00 p.m. Attendance will be in person only.

Erie County Heritage
Passports now available
The Knight Sutton Museum will be open and welcoming guests Sunday, June20 from 1 to 3 p.m. Stop by to have your Erie County Heritage Passport stamped. The passports are now available at all Erie County libraries, including the Newstead Public Library, and the Knight Sutton Museum has copies, as well.
Pick one up to explore all the historical society buildings and museums across the county during its bicentennial year. Normal hours at the Knight Sutton Museum are: Every Wednesday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the first and third Sundays of every month 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Other days and times can be arranged by calling the director at 716-542-7022.
Admission is free but donations are gratefully accepted. The usual Covid-19 restrictions of face-masking, and social distancing will be in place.
