• Eagle Scout Project Fundraiser

    C. Dee Wright Community Center 11 Church St., Akron, NY

    Dylan Scotch is fundraising for his Community Garden Eagle Scout Project on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the garden at the Wright Center. Paula's Donuts, hot dogs, desserts, etc. are on the fundraiser menu. Information about the garden, its planned layout, related garden programs and plants and flowers will be selected for the project will be shared. Information about the C. Dee Wright Community Ministry Center programs, REACH, Tender Paws Pet Food Pantry, and other community programs will also be available. Masks and social distancing will be in effect.

    The VFW Post 3180 will host a Gravesite Flag Placement beginning with a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the Post, located at 35 Lewis Road. At 9 a.m., volunteers will pick up flags and ceremony assignments at the VFW and place flags thru 11 a.m.

Vendors wanting to participate may apply on the West Shore Market website. The Market is designed to support all local businesses, organizations and individuals and organizers welcome anyone with a passion for what they do. It will be open on the triangle of Village of Akron property at Cedar Street and Eckerson Ave. on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Starting the last weekend in May through the last Sunday in October.     The Akron Rotary Club will host a Memorial Day Fly-In Pancake Breakfast at the Akron Airport's Jesson Field from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday, May 31. Tickets are $8 for Age 12 & Up, $5 for kids ages 5-12 and free for children under 5. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Scholarship Program at Akron High School.
