Children can search classic photos from the bestselling I Spy series to help them learn the alphabet. Simple picture clues and rhyming riddles guide the young readers through interactive, fun-filled spreads. Many thanks to Lionesses Pat Pearce, Carole Borchert, and Akron Central School Kindergarten teacher Emily Drum for their help in organizing the donation of books for Kindergarteners.

Akron Central’s varsity field hockey team clinched their first league win against the Barker Bulldogs with a final score of 3-0 on Saturday. Morgan Tomporowski got the ball rolling in the first quarter scoring at 9:03 with an assist from Mackenzie Tomporowski. Then, in the second quarter, Julia Klodzinski added to the score netting two goals – the first assisted by Morgan Tomporowski. The team goalkeeper Marissa Brege not only achieved a shutout but also recorded six saves, facing a penalty corner and one shot on goal.

Each year the Rotary Club of Akron-Newstead welcomes the recipients of the scholarships presented by the Club to Akron Central School graduating seniors. Akron Central School Board of Education members held their organizational meeting for 2024-2025 school year on Tuesday, July 9. Board members Erik Polkowski and Philip Kenline, elected during the annual meeting in May were sworn in and the board held an election of officers.

Noting that Heat related deaths and illnesses are preventable, Erie County has a number of resources https://www3.erie.gov/health/health/extreme-heat to help area residents. Akron Central School Voters approved a $43,926,821 budget for 2024-2025 on Tuesday with 317 yes, 127 no votes. The budget represents a two percent increase in the tax levy, lower than the 5.82 percent allowed under the State Tax Cap calculation. Phillip Kenline and Erik Polkowski 305, were reelected to the Board of Education. Kenline with 271 votes, Polkowski with 305 votes and Charles Roggen with 170 votes. Voters also approved the referendum to purchase two full size buses, 328 yes to 112 no.
