Basketball teams hold toy drive

The Akron High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams held a toy drive during their December home games. Donations were delivered to Oshei Children’s Hospital to bring some joy to young patients. The teams say “Thank you!” to all who contributed to the drive! Coach Justin Gerstung and Coach Antoinette Abrams accompanied the team members on the delivery before the school’s holiday recess.

Akron Lionesses donate Books to Akron Central School 2024 Kindergarten Class

The Akron Lioness Club donated 100 copies of I Spy Letters by Jean Marzollo, to the 2024 Akron Central School Kindergarten Class, on their first day of school. Children can search classic photos from the bestselling I Spy series to help them learn the alphabet.  Simple picture clues and rhyming riddles guide the young readers through interactive, fun-filled spreads.  Many thanks to Lionesses Pat Pearce, Carole Borchert, and Akron Central School Kindergarten teacher Emily Drum for their help in organizing the donation of books for Kindergarteners.

ACS Field Hockey posts win over Barker

Akron Central’s varsity field hockey team clinched their first league win against the Barker Bulldogs with a final score of 3-0 on Saturday. Morgan Tomporowski got the ball rolling in the first quarter scoring at 9:03 with an assist from Mackenzie Tomporowski. Then, in the second quarter, Julia Klodzinski added to the score netting two goals – the first assisted by Morgan Tomporowski. The team goalkeeper Marissa Brege not only achieved a shutout but also recorded six saves, facing a penalty corner and one shot on goal.
