Dean’s List 176 students from Genesee Community College have been named to Dean’s List. Students honored on the Dean’s List have maintained full or part-time enrollment and earned a quality point index of 3.50 to 3.74.  Among those students are: Anne Baer of Akron; Zachary Blew and Kyle Sage of Basom; Stephen Burton and Aaron Birkby of Corfu; and Gretchen Czelusta of Alden Genesee Community College serves over 6,000 students per semester through more than 70 academic programs and certificates, including the new Marketing and Social Media concentration within the Business Administration program, and the new Nanotechnology degree with ECC.

Horror Comedy filming underway in Akron

A Horror Comedy, co-written by the award-winning writing duo of Tyler Cheman and Akron native Kristen Skeet and directed by Skeet, is currently being filmed in Akron and other areas in Western New York from August 4 into September, including Market on Main and the lower level of the Village Hall in early September. “Slasher Days of Summer” is slated for release in March 2024

Bicentennial Scavenger Hunt continues

The Town of Newstead bicentennial events are over, and a great deal of fun was had by those participating.  If you ran out of time to complete the scavenger hunt, you have until the end of the month.  The scavenger hunt was designed for family fun and enjoyment.  As an added bonus you could learn something new about Akron/Newstead history.  Booklets are still available at Town Hall, Village Hall, Newstead Public Library and Knight-Sutton Museum.  Pick one up and find the signs at the various locations.  There will be a code to decipher.  Everyone who took part earlier in the
