Governor in Newstead for ribbon cutting

Governor Kathy Hochul and Town of Newstead Supervisor David L. Cummings were among state and local officials who celebrated the commissioning of Western New York’s newest large-scale electric transmission line, Empire State Line on Monday morning. Governor Hochul spoke on the importance of clean energy. Akron Community Band opens 2022 season

Akron Community Band (ACB) will present their first concert of the 2022 season in the Russell Park Gazebo, Main Street, Akron at 8 p.m. this Friday, June 17 under the direction of Holly Meides and Karlyn Backus.  There is no concert on Friday June 24 as Akron Central’s Class of 2022 celebrates their graduation. Concerts continue on Friday, July 1 and each Friday night through August 12.

Unapproved hydrant usage leads to discolored water

The Village of Akron has issued a statement to Akron Village water customers: “it was brought to our attention yesterday that there was some unapproved hydrant usage in the Skyline Drive area yesterday which caused some discolored water issues.  The village is working with the parties responsible to make sure that it does not happen again.  Any ongoing issues can be reported directly to the water plant at (585)547-9410.”

Akron Central investigating ‘no immediate threat of harm’
