Light up Akron cancelled due to impending damaging winds

The Village of Akron Public Safety Team has cancelled all “Light up Akron” activities planned December 11, 2021 due to the anticipated damaging high wind event forecasted to impact our area on Saturday. This includes the AMP Chicken BBQ, Elementary Chorus Concert and Santa Band, Tree lighting and Light Parade. There is no information regarding any rescheduling, as of 1 p.m. on Friday. Confirmed COVID cases continue to climb in 14001

Erie County data on Wednesday, December 8 shows the number of confirmed new COVID-19 cases in the 14001 zip code continues to climb.  There was an increase of 64 cases over the past week, the highest in a one-week period since March of 2020.  There were 40 new cases the previous week, following a week with 35 new cases.  The community total is now and a community total of 1160 since March of 2020.

Akron man charged following Clarence incident

The Defendant Faces Multiple Felony, Misdemeanor, and Traffic Charges Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that 50-year-old David Cottom, Sr., of Akron has been charged following an incident early Wednesday morning when he fled from Deputies during an attempted traffic stop and a report of a stolen vehicle later in the morning. Town sets hearing on Cannabis option

Town Board members set a public hearing on “Local Law No. 12 of the Year 2021” entitled “2021 local law to opt out of allowing cannabis retail dispensaries and on-site consumption sites as authorized under Cannabis Law Article 4,” for November 8 at 7:25 p.m. in the Newstead Town Hall. The purpose of this local law is to opt out of allowing cannabis retail dispensaries and on-site cannabis consumption sites in the Town of Newstead that would otherwise be allowed under Cannabis Law Article 4 Cities, towns, and villages can opt-out of allowing adult-use cannabis retail dispensaries or on-site consumption
