Governor extends deadline for absentee ballots for school budget vote
New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has extended the deadline for the return of absentee ballots for the 2020 school district budget vote and board member election. School budget ballots were accepted by hand delivery through 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020, but those also sent via United States Postal Service must be received by 5:00 p.m. on June 16, 2020.

ACS Parade in lieu of Prom moved up to 6:30 p.m. Friday
A Fire Truck parade planned this Friday night (June 5) to celebrate the Akron Class of 2020, on what would have been their prom night, was moved to 6:30 p.m., from the original 20:20 military time start, late Tuesday, in response to a curfew in Erie County.

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz has signed a Local Emergency Order signed today, June 2 2020 establishing a curfew for Erie County beginning at 8:00 p.m. tonight and ending at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3 2020. Please note that essential personnel who are scheduled to work during the curfew hours are EXEMPT and can report to work. These essential employees should carry their work badge or other I.D. to identify themselves in the event they are stopped by law enforcement.

District addresses privacy concerns over ‘absentee ballot only’ voting
Readers raised questions relative to the privacy of votes cast in the Akron Central School District annual budget and board member election after receiving their absentee ballots last week.
