Akron Police Chief Rick Lauricella has announced that the Akron Police Car will drive Akron Memorial Day Parade route at 9 a.m. Memorial Day morning with lights flashing, but no siren, in memory of all who have served this great nation. Tributes flow for ACS Senior Class of 2020

As the end of the 2019-20 school year begins to wind down, traditions morphing into something new and different due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Governor’s Executive Order will keep Akron Schools closed through the end of the school year, while learning continues with online teaching and assignments or paper materials for those without internet access.  In the meantime, substitutes for year-end celebrations and events will have to do, making for unique memories during unprecedented times, particularly for Akron Central High School seniors and their families.

Public Service Commission receiving comments on NextEra Energy proposal

The State of New York Public Service Commission has issued notice that public comment is sought on a Joint Proposal of terms under which the New York State Public Service Commission would grant authority to NextEra Energy Transmission New York, Inc. (NEETNY) to construct the Empire State Line Project, a new approximately 20-mile long 345-kilovolt (kV) transmission line and associated switchyards in the Town of Royalton in Niagara County and the Towns of Alden, Newstead, Lancaster, and Elma in Erie County; a new 345 kV switchyard in Niagara County: and a second, new switchyard in Erie County.
