Akron Community Band (ACB) will present their second concert of the 2021 season in the Russell Park Gazebo, Main Street, Akron at 8 p.m. under the direction of Holly Meides and Karlyn Backus. Concerts continue each Friday night through August 13. Underway are plans for the July 23 Christmas in July concert. Fireworks, parade on schedule for Akron Fourth of July
The Akron Celebration Committee is finalizing plans for the 2021 Akron Fourth of July Celebration. In a preview released this week plans include: July 3rd Fireworks at dusk in Veterans Park. July 4th Power Wheels Race on Main Street at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Soapbox Derby at 11:00 a.m. Chicken Barbecue 11:00 a.m. in Russell Park along with additional food stands. Wolcottsville Wildlife will be in Russell Park as well as Face Painting. The Kiddie parade begins at 4:15 p.m. with a Pirates and Mermaids theme. Susan will examine the contributions of many area women to this major movement, its long struggle and its eventual success.
