Lane restrictions planned on a portion of Bloomindale Ave.
The Village of Akron issued an Alert at 6:28 a.m. notifying residents that a portion of Bloomingdale Avenue between John Street and Wesley Drive will have lane restrictions for an estimated time frame of August 5th through September 4th for the purpose of milling and overlay work per the Erie County Highway Department.

Akron/Newstead Senior Center, 5691 Cummings Rd., Akron, NY is planning a concert in Russell Park on July 20. Carnival Kids Steel Drum Orchestra will play from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on July 20. This concert is sponsored by Independent Health. The Akron Newstead Seniors will sell Hot dogs, cookies, brownies, and beverages.

Local authorities monitoring Extreme Heat conditions, cooling shelter available
The Akron/Newstead Emergency Management team, Village of Akron and Town of Newstead, and local fire companies are monitoring and preparing to assist where needed in the extreme heat conditions expected this week. Noting that Heat related deaths and illnesses are preventable, Erie County has a number of resources https://www3.erie.gov/health/health/extreme-heat to help area residents.
