Bugle Holiday Deadlines announced

The Akron Bugle will be on vacation from Thursday, December 18. 2025 through Friday, January 2, 2026.  News and advertising for the December 18 issue is Monday noon on December 15, News and advertising for the January 1, 2026 issue is Friday noon on December 26 (earlier if possible).  Anything that needs to be published prior to January 1 should be submitted for the December 18 issue.  There will not be an issue on December 25.   News and Advertising can be emailed to akronbugle@gmail.com or put in our drop off box in the stairwell at 67 Main Street or dropped

Water discoloration due to garage fire

The Village of Akron has announced that due to a garage fire that occurred in the Village today, there may be some discoloration in the water due to the high pull on the system from the fire hydrants. Akron Chambers sponsors Scarecrow contest

This Halloween season, the Akron Chamber of Commerce. with the support of village merchants, plans to “spook up” the Main Street business district by sponsoring a scarecrow contest.  Walking down Main Street this month you can see many different scarecrow types all designed and put up by various area businesses.  Those not located on Main Street are also invited to set up a scarecrow on Main Street.  Some scarecrows already in place include a pirate skeleton (pictured left), Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (pictured right), and the headless horseman (pictured middle).  All of these scarecrows will be put up from

Classic Broadway featured

Akron Community Band will feature Classic Broadway on July 11 as they present their third of eight concerts in the Russell Park gazebo, Main Street, Akron. The concert begins at 8 p.m. under the direction of Holly Meides and Karlyn Backus, with a variety of “band favorite’ selections. Road closures for the Fourth of July

For the July 4th Celebration. Main St will be closed with NO PARKING 7am-7pm from Buffalo St to Church St. The Parade route of Bloomingdale Ave to Townsend St to Main St to Monroe St will be restricted NO PARKING from 2pm -7pm . The parade route will be closed and shut down to traffic by 4 p.m. Also parking will be restricted to one side of John St, Clinton St, Marshall Ave and Hoag Ave.

Temporary road closures June 3 and 4

The village of Akron Electric along with the county forestry crews will be tree trimming and removing trees on Parkview Dr. from the intersection of East Ave & Parkview Dr. heading south past the bridge on Parkview Dr. to the entrance of Erie County Park off Parkview Dr. The county will close the road on June 3 & 4 from 6:30 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. each day for crews to work safely and efficiently.
