It is with tremendous sadness and love that we announce the passing of Jeffrey D. Jones, 78, of Akron, New York.  Jeff died unexpectedly on May 21, 2024 in Cincinnati, Ohio surrounded by his family. He was born on July 8, 1945 in Ottawa, Canada and grew up in Toronto, Canada until moving to Buffalo in 1957.  At the age of 12, he was incredulous that his father would move them to a city that didn’t have a hockey team, and could not quite imagine his life going forward.  But it did, with a maple leaf often present somewhere on

Peter E. Phelps, known affectionately to his friends and family as Pete, was born in Batavia, New York, on April 30, 1938 to the late Max and Gladys (Everitt) Phelps.  He spent his years in Akron, New York, where he was a pillar of the community. For 40 dedicated years, he worked as a Service Coordinator for Strippit, Inc., retiring in 2000. Peter was not just known for his dedication to his work, but also for his love of music and sports. Darlene Lauer, passed away suddenly on July 16, 2024. She was born on March 28, 1963, in Buffalo, New York to Richard and Joan (Symenow) Kempisty.  Darlene poured love into everything she did and worked for many years in the hospitality industry where she was known and loved by many. Raymond G. Skaine, 84 of Clarence, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was born August 8, 1939 in Monongahela, PA, a son of the late James and Ruth Stamper Skaine. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sandra Markham Skaine of Clarence. Children, Tracey (Alan) Burns of Missouri, Becky (Chuck) Heller of Minnesota and Lincoln Skaine of Massachusetts. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Marian Ruth Green, age 89 entered into rest on July 5, 2024 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Batavia, New York. Marian was the daughter of the late Wilbur C. Green and Mildred R. (Myers) Green born on August 9, 1934 at the family home in Alabama, New York. Following her graduation from Akron Central School in 1952, she became an educational secretary in the elementary school of the Akron Central School district until her retirement in 1994.
