Commemorative 250 Coins offered at Museum tour

The Newstead Historical Society is giving Commemorative Coins to the first 100 people to take a tour of their museums on the Fourth of July.

They invite everyone in the community to join them for any or all of their activities this weekend.  A Gold Commemorative Coins will be given out at the Knight-Sutton Museum, 123 Main St. open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the Fourth of July and the Silver coin is available at the Rich-Twinn Octagon House, 145 Main St. open from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Rich-Twinn Octagon House will host Heritage Days on their grounds from 1 to 5 p.m. on July 5th.  The first floor of the house will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Any coins not given out on July 4th will be available. Also, on the grounds of Octagon House during Heritage Day will be demonstrations of Blacksmithing, a Hit and Miss Engine, Open hearth cooking, Quilling, the Tonawanda Senecas, and old-fashioned Children’s games.

Refreshments available during the event will be fresh popped corn, pickle on a stick and penny candy.  There is no charge. Everyone is welcome. Organizers hope to see you.
