Ladies Cross-Country team is Niagara-Orleans Champion

With a perfect 12-0 record the Lady Tigers Cross Country team cruised to a First place victory at the All League championship  this weekend.

This was a race that all the girls needed to be prepped, ready and focused.  Making first team All-League  and finishing  Second overall Abby Bower, also making first team All League was Aleece O’Malley-5th and Kylee Rebmann-6th. Making second team All League Makayla Pask-11th.

Kendra McConkey finished 22nd, Caylin Thomas-Wells-26th, Hazel Fleming-27th and Gabbie Dispenza who improved her time by 5 minutes took 40th. Without Akron’s 6th and 7th runners (Caylin  and Hazel) running some of their top times on a 3.1 mile course, Akron would never have been able to secure this victory. Coach Bennett always says everyone counts, noting that was so true on Saturday.

The final scores were Akron 37, Newfane 42, Albion 74. This championship upset a 12-year winning streak for Newfane and wait for Akron to take back the title. The team will head to the State Qualifiers on October 30 to see if any or all of them can make it on to the State Championships in Queensbury NY. “Good luck ladies and Go Tigers!”
