‘Operation Toothbrush’ celebrates 11th year
2026 marks the eleventh year that the Akron chapter of the National Honor Society continues its tradition of “Operation Toothbrush” – a collection of toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant (for females and males), soap or body wash, shampoo and conditioner, as well as new socks for men, women, and children, for donation to needy families in the area.
The school-wide collection begins on Monday, October 26, and concludes on Friday, November 13.
Akron Central School students can bring items to their homeroom, or items donated by community members can be dropped off at the school’s main flagpole entrance.
Many people take their linen closet stock of basic hygiene supplies for granted, while some of their neighbors in the community are not only struggling to put food on the table but also desperately need toiletry items.
Donated items will be distributed to those in need within the school community and shared with the Akron-Newstead Food Pantry, which helps local families who may be struggling throughout the year. Questions about the collection may be directed to Mrs. Megan Kiss at (716) 542-5030 ext. 4164
