Spring events to benefit volunteer care-giving program

A dance and Chinese auction this Friday, May 2 and a scrapbooking event on Saturday, May 10 will benefit Hearts and Hand: Faith In Action, a new volunteer care-giving program serving the Akron, Newstead and Tonawanda Reservation communities.

Tax increase announced with adoption of Village budget

Akron Village board members adopted the June 1, 2003 May 31, 2004 Budget at a special meeting of the Akron Village Board on Tuesday, which will increase property tax and user fee rates.

The Akron Central School District budget hearing, vote postponed

Decisions in the state capital continue to impact school districts, including Akron. A delay in State Funding payments to the District for the 2002-2003 school year may result in the need to borrow in-mid June to meet obligations. Also, the budget hearing scheduled for May 8 is moved to May 20 at 7 p.m. and the Annual vote on the budget and Board of Education members is now June 3 from noon to 9:00 p.m. in High School Room #158, due to changes in Albany.
