Akron Post Office now accepting applications for U.S. Passports

As winter turns the corner into spring, travel is on the minds of many Western New York residents. Recent changes to Department of Homeland Security policies now require enhanced identification such as a Passport or passport card in order to enter the United States by land or sea travel, and passports are still required for all air travel extending beyond the U.S. border. In order to accommodate the increased demand for passports and the new passport cards the United States Postal Service has expanded the number of post offices accepting Passport applications.


Elements of original High School building requested in new design

Architectural elements of the original Akron Central School building will be part of the design for the new addition facing Bloomingdale Ave. Akron Central School Board members made the request of architects during a visioning process last Thursday evening.


Public Meeting offers opportunity to discuss future of the Town of Royalton

The Town of Royalton is preparing a Comprehensive Plan to guide future growth and development in the Town. As part of this project, a public meeting will be held March 12, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Royalton Town Hall. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and maps showing land use, environmental features, transportation, agricultural lands and other information will be on display.


Survey response low - Chamber faced with tough decisions

What Akron Chamber of Commerce events and projects should continue and which have outlived their benefit to the community. That is a primary focus of an internet survey launched two weeks ago which has a total of 8 responses to date. Immediately facing the Chamber Board is a decision to move forward with their Annual Sidewalk Sale and Craft Show or sideline it this spring due to a lack of volunteers and participants.
