Akron Community Band concert Friday

The Akron Community Band, will play the second of their eight concert series in Russell Park this Friday. A variety of musical selections including marches, show tunes, musicals, and an overture are included in the program.

Akron based team earns Gus-Macker Basketball Championship

An Akron based basketball team earned the Gus-Macker Basketball championship in the 30 to 35 Age Division in June. The team of Steven Patterson, Craig Bernhardt, Shawn Fromwiller, and Eric Friedhaher, better known as The Street Sweepers, were up for the challenge as they participated in the Gus-Macker Basketball Tournament in Buffalo on June 25 and 26.

Family programs planned at Newstead Public Library

July will bring a number of Family Programs to the Newstead Public Library, Main Street, Akron, NY. Perry Ground - Native American Storyteller will share tales on Wednesday, July 13 at 2 p.m.


Historical Society releases memory book about Akron

Ranzenhofer continues working for mandate relief following passage of property tax cap legislation

New York State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer released a statement following the passage of property tax cap legislation indicating the need for further mandate relief and his commitment to continue working for that relief. The New York State Senate has passed historic property tax relief legislation that enacts a firm cap on local property taxes and provides for mandate relief for school districts and municipal governments.
