Senior Center now open longer on Wednesday

Akron-Newstead Senior Center hours changed starting this week. The center will open on Wednesdays from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Depending on the results of this experiment, further expansion of hours will be considered. For those members looking for additional hours to work out, the exercise room will be open when senior programs are being held.

Town adopts six month moratorium on new applications for wind energy conversion systems

Following a Public Hearing on April 27, the Newstead Town Board adopted a Local Law placing a six month moratorium on the acceptance of new applications for the approval of wind energy conversion systems within the Town of Newstead.


Village budget under tax levy cap

Following several budget meetings to refine the 2015-2016 Village of Akron budget, Board members adopted a spending plan late on April 30.
