REACH and Feedmore WNY will hold a Mobile Food Day on October 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Masonic Parking Lot, John Street, behind the C Dee Wright Community Ministry Center, 11 Church Strett. The Food distribution is open to Akron-Newstead residents of all ages. Verbal sign in for a Family Farm Box and two other items. The portion of Rapids Road between Maple and Greenbush will be closed on October 1, 2020 starting at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. The Erie County Clarence Maintenance Barn will be replacing a cross culvert near house number 1261 Rapids Road. The work is only expected to take one day.

BUILDING UNITY DAY OF GIVING – The Third Annual Back-To-School give-away sponsored by the Akron-Newstead Alliance was held on August 26 at the Newstead Senior Center, Cummings Road, Akron. 250 bags with supplies for students were given away. A free farmers market was also held that day with 100 bags of fresh produce distributed.
