Newstead Town Clerk Dawn Izydorczak has issued a statement that this week’s garbage pickup in the Village of Akron and Town of Newstead will be delayed until tomorrow, Saturday, July 24. Recycling will be picked up today as usual.

Fireworks, parade on schedule for Akron Fourth of July
The Akron Celebration Committee is finalizing plans for the 2021 Akron Fourth of July Celebration. In a preview released this week plans include: July 3rd Fireworks at dusk in Veterans Park. July 4th Power Wheels Race on Main Street at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Soapbox Derby at 11:00 a.m. Chicken Barbecue 11:00 a.m. in Russell Park along with additional food stands. Wolcottsville Wildlife will be in Russell Park as well as Face Painting. The Kiddie parade begins at 4:15 p.m. with a Pirates and Mermaids theme.
