In preparation for the upcoming Bicentennial I have been putting together displays. It is indeed very challenging to research the many history files in the towns archives. As your historian, I never tire of reading an old excerpt from an old 1800’s newspaper or looking at the many pictures which always make a story come to life. That is what has been going on at the Historians office and a lot of it.

Newstead Historical Society looking forward to welcoming back Erie County Historian Doug Kohler as he talks about, “The Top 10 Events in Erie County History”, tonight, May11. IRS announces tax relief for victims of severe winter storm in New York
NY-2022-09 WASHINGTON — Victims of severe winter storm beginning Dec. 23, 2022, now have until April 18, 2023, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, the Internal Revenue Service announced today.

Village Hall closed Thursday
The Akron Village Hall will be closed today, December 29 due to a power outage. The Village electric crew is working on restoring power to the Village Hall and Yogi’s, no one else is impacted by the problem.
