Newstead residents will have two town offices to fill in November

Town of Newstead residents, including the Village of Akron, will have two town elected positions to fill this November. They will select a person to complete the unexpired term (three years) of Town of Newstead Councilwoman Jeannine Morlacci who resigned May 27, 2020, and vote for someone to fill a full four-year term as Town Justice, following procedures to fill the position of Town Justice when someone elected to that position wishes to take retirement and continue to serve, which Town Justice Dennis Freeman opted to do.

Akron Tigers 13u split games over the weekend

Come from behind win The Akron Tigers 13u baseball team came from behind to beat Central Amherst 9-6 on Friday night.   Brodie Tedesco was the starting pitcher for the Tigers.  Tedesco gave up no runs on one hit in the first inning.  Aiden Romesser led off with a double for the Tigers and later scored on a hit by Vinny Consiglio.
