Akron-Newstead Garden Walk to Benefit Senior Dog Sanctuary

One of Akron’s summer traditions will help senior dogs in need. The Akron-Newstead Garden Walk takes place on Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring 11 private gardens and two public spaces across the village and surrounding area. Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a free, self-guided tour showcasing the beauty, creativity and community spirit of local gardeners. On the Campus Purchase College announced that more than 1,300 students were named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester. Students who have earned this academic honor have maintained a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and taken a minimum of 12 credits. For BA and BS programs, a semester GPA of 3.50 is required. Akron Community Band will feature Classic Broadway on July 11 as they present their third of eight concerts in the Russell Park gazebo, Main Street, Akron. The concert begins at 8 p.m. under the direction of Holly Meides and Karlyn Backus, with a variety of “band favorite’ selections.
