Akron Central School Kindergarten Registration set for 2026-2027

The Akron Central School District has announced dates for Kindergarten Registration for the 2026-2027 school year. Parents of children born between December 2, 2020 and December 1, 2021 are reminded that it is time to register their child for kindergarten. Dates for registration packet drop off are Monday through Monday, February 2nd through February 13, 2026, from 8am until 3pm. Completed registration packets may also be emailed or mailed in. New Flagpole

Village of Akron personnel took advantage of the break in weather on Wednesday to begin installing a new flagpole in Russell Park. The new pole will fly an American Flag most of the year and will be used for the annual New Year’s Eve ball drop, replacing the crane currently used. A new ball is being fabricated which will be lighter and easier to use than the wrecking ball which has dropped to welcome in the new year for many years.

Koopman Selected for Conference All-State Symphonic Band

Akron Central High School senior Whitley Koopman has been selected to perform with the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Conference All-State Symphonic Band, one of the highest honors a high school musician can achieve in New York State.
