The Town of Newstead Bi-Centennial Committee continues to work on plans for the 2023 observance. Although 2023 seems a long way off, it takes many months to plan a huge celebration. The bicentennial committee has tentative plans for a scavenger hunt, children’s activities, garden walk, cruise night/taste of Akron, Native American day, and many varied activities. Akron Central School will maintain its single point of entry to the building for the new school year beginning September 6, 2022, the opening day of school for 2022-23. The Board of Education and the Safety Committee have implemented a system for visitors to the District between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. School Security Officers (SSO) will continue to facilitate the program.
