Christmas in July featured at Friday’s concert

Prizes awarded to best displays Holiday Cheer, Santa Meets the Big Band, and the Nightmare Before Christmas will fill Russell Park, Akron, NY with “sounds of the season” as Akron Community Band celebrates Christmas in July under the direction of Holly Meides and Karlyn Backus on Friday, July 25 beginning at 8 p.m.  This is the fifth of eight scheduled concerts in their 102nd season.

Genesee County Sheriff’s Office investigating a fatal collision on Bloomingdale Road

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal one car vehicle collision that occurred on Bloomingdale Road in the Town of Alabama on July 20, 2025 .  The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received the 9-1-1 call reporting the personal injury accident at 3:14 p.m. Upon arrival, patrols identified the operator of the vehicle as Justin J. Blasko, age 36, of Akron, New York.  Blasko was the operator and sole occupant of a black 1998 BMW 4 door sedan traveling eastbound on Bloomingdale Road.
