Hello 40th Year!
An editorial
With this issue of the AKRON BUGLE Ken and I begin our fortieth year of service to this community, our readers, and our advertisers. As we reflect on the 39 years of weekly issues already gone to press, we celebrate the stories of graduations past, the birth and death announcements, the government decisions that have paved the path to where we will go together as a community, the building projects and curriculum changes at Akron Central School which have crafted the foundation for students who are now leaders in their fields of expertise, making a difference locally and globally.
Your stories weave the fabric of this community. Your stories model caring for one another, looking for new and innovative ways to meet the needs not only for you, but for those in your neighborhood, and beyond. Your stories which speak volumes of generosity of time, talent, finances, and imagination.
Your stories of businesses begun, businesses working to serve the local community while under pressure from the “bigger guys” who give a mere fraction of what you give to help others in the community. One look at the list of scholarships and awards supported by Akron/Newstead businesses and organizations, shows the magnitude of what you give back. The basket raffles to help those facing difficult times, the sponsorship of school activities, the behind the scenes, please keep it quiet way you make sure no one goes hungry or without an essential resource.
Your stories of retirement, of changes to adapt to an evolving way of being in business.
Your stories of grief and of joy, of tackling challenges of receiving unexpected resources.
Your stories are what we have put into print for 39 years. Your stories which we will do everything in our power to put into print for perpetuity. Print on newsprint and print that can come digitally into your device of choice.
Thank you for the first 39 years! Ken and Marilyn Kasperek
