Joanne Patricia Wert

On Monday, December 16, 2024 the Lord brought Joanne Patricia Wert, age 86, of Varysburg, home to live forever with Him. Born in Buffalo, NY on January 21, 1938, Joanne was the daughter of the late Gordon L. and Ann Cambridge Brown. She grew up in Dale and graduated from Wyoming Central School in 1954. After high school Joanne moved to Attica and began a lifelong career in banking, first at Marine Midland which later became HSBC and later with The Bank of Akron in Clarence Center, where she was the assistant branch manager before retiring in 2002.

Joanne was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Akron, NY. She had a volunteering heart and served with Wyoming County Hospice, Wyoming County Homemakers, the Wyoming County Republican Committee, and was the treasurer of the Varysburg Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Joanne enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting family, going out to dinner and the finer things in life.

She was preceded in death by her sister Brenda Donnelly and her brothers, Gordon H., twins Ronald and Douglas, and Kevin Brown. She was also predeceased by Robert Harder, father of her children.

Joanne is survived by her beloved husband of 32 years, Ronald E. Wert of Varysburg, whom she married on June 20, 1992. She is also survived by her two daughters, Luann (the late Wayne Evans) Bushnell of Athens, Texas and Deborah ( Gifford) Murray of Monument, Colorado; her son David (Dawn) Harder of Tijeras, New Mexico and her stepchildren, Rhonda Wert of Livonia, Kevin (Mary) Wert of Attica, Brian (Hazel) Wert of Canandaigua and Carol Berner of Varysburg. She is also survived by numerous grand, great-grand, step-grand and step-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

There are no prior calling hours and a private burial at Forest Lawn cemetery in Attica will be at the convenience of the family at this time. A memorial celebration of life will be held at the Varysburg Fire Hall at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2025.
